Precision Engineer / Tool Maker

Monday to Friday Working hours (Apply online only) + Overtime

£17.00 - £20.00 per hour (£35,300 - £41,600) DOE

We are seeking an experienced Precision Engineer or tool maker to join our client who are a small but established traditional engineering business. The company manufactures high precision components which are used within the food and logistics industries. The successful person will be working in a traditional engineering machine shop producing high-precision components and parts using manual milling and turning machines. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced precision engineer / toolmaker who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and enjoys hands-on work.

Key Responsibilities

*Operate manual machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and semi manual CNC Machines to cut and shape materials.

*To manufacture parts and components used in a variety of industries primarily food and logistics

*Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create components and parts with extremely tight tolerances

*Inspect finished parts using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometres, gauges)

*Maintain repair and modify tools and components to ensure optimal performance

*Work with other team members to achieve production targets

*Document records for quality and traceability.

Required Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role the candidate will have the following skills and experience

*Precision engineer experienced in milling and turning using manual machines and lathes.

*Knowledge of XYZ Machines would be advantageous.

*Time-served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering

*Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of materials such as metals, stainless steel, aluminium, alloys and plastics.

*Ability to work confidently within an engineering environment

*A good understanding of manual machining and Semi CNC Technologies

*Competent with measuring and inspection equipment

*Understanding of workshop health & safety practices

*Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

*Strong problem solving skills for diagnosing tool failures

*Full UK Driving Licence would be ideal as you may have to visit customers from time to time.
