We are recruiting on behalf of a leading multidisciplinary construction services and electrical contracting business, delivering expert solutions across building, engineering, fit-out, refurbishment, commercial interiors, electrical, AV, and data services. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented Pre-Construction Manager to join a growing team, taking ownership of the preconstruction phase from early-stage development through to successful project handover.
The successful candidate will be a commercially minded and technically strong estimator, comfortable bridging client needs, design intent, and construction feasibility to lay the groundwork for successful project delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full preconstruction process, collaborating with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.
Key Responsibilities for a Pre-Construction Manager:
* Analyse and interpret project information to inform accurate estimates and proposals.
* Prepare estimates and bid proposals on commercial construction projects for work values up to £3m.
* Accurately calculate take-offs from drawings, including labour and materials.
* Understand and apply the planning and sequencing of construction projects.
* Communicate with clients to clarify unclear specifications and wording through RFIs.
* Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for bid submissions.
* Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-overs, and project close-out meetings as needed.
* Use an in-house pricing and quoting system to deliver accurate estimates.
* Undertake site surveys and attend site visits as required.
* Support the business unit lead and report back on progress weekly.
Key Skills for a Pre-Construction Manager:
* Proven experience as a construction estimator within the commercial construction sector.
* HNC/HND in Construction and the Built Environment, or equivalent.
* Experience with estimating and the full tender submission process.
* Good attention to detail with a methodical, accurate approach.
* Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, sub-contractors, and internal teams.
* IT literate, with confident use of estimating and quoting systems.
