Job Description - Preservations Manager

Job Description Summary

The Project Preservation Manager for preservation and storage management of turbine components that are delivered from the GE Supply Chain and GE factories.

You will be responsible for the proper preservation and storage of turbine components that leave the Supply Chain factories and stored at the Port, as well as for managing work on completing items that do not conform to contract specification, before the handover to the client. The key objective is to maintain the good condition of the components until their installation and commissioning offshore.

This role is to be based on site at Nigg in Scotland,. Onboarding training would be done with the Able Seaton site team and will be required to travel regularly to Able Seaton Port in order to get the lessons learned and GE working culture

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all Preservation activities related to the construction and commissioning on  site, from site mobilization, through erection and commissioning work as well as management of activities related to this scope, i.e., Manpower, spares, documentation, and quality
  • Develops and implements the preservation plan and strategy based on the project with the Preservation
  • Management and planning of all preservation personnel requirements and operational performance activities related to testing and validation of instrumentation components & controls systems of the equipment in accordance with the design objectives / specifications for operational use.
  • Recruit and develop talent as per project demand.
  • Management of teams EHS knowledge, awareness, and performance.
  • Manage preservation and contractors.
  • Organize and lead weekly coordination meetings for preservation activities
  • Manage handover of equipment (nacelles, towers, blades) during various project phases
  • Review and approve supplier invoices
  • Manage the project preservation budget
  • Track preservation and completion activities KPIs and report to the client
  • Share lessons learned for future projects
  • Progress reporting to the management team, with escalation of potential roadblocks and risks
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

   

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience/knowledge
  • Good, strong Wind turbine experience, minimum 3 years of experience in electrical systems.
  • This role requires advanced experience in the Project Management & Commissioning.
    Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

  • Education and training in electricity or electronics
  • Experience in offshore wind industry with a focus on power conversion systems.
  • Ability to work from procedures, as built drawings & System Schematics.
  • High degree of EHS and quality awareness.
  • High degree of flexibility, highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
  • Fluent English both spoken and written.
  • Able to work at height and at sea.
  • Service and customer oriented.
  • Efficient, proactive, and reliable.
  • Able to work within a multicultural/multidisciplinary team.
  • Organized and transparent.
