Job Description

What will you be doing? 

As a Pressure Equipment Design Specialist, you’ll play a key role in delivering technically advanced projects within the nuclear sector. Your expertise will directly contribute to engineering programmes at the forefront of clean energy innovation—turning complex challenges into real-world solutions.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Lead or support the design of pressure equipment such as reactor vessels, heat exchangers, filters, and tanks.
  • Develop engineering solutions from initial concept to fully validated product definition, including 3D models, technical documentation, and design justification.
  • Work within integrated project teams, alongside suppliers and manufacturing experts, to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and technically robust outputs.
  • Navigate complex and evolving requirements by delivering through iterative design, structured problem solving, and collaboration.
  • Participate in peer reviews, design risk assessments, and technical governance processes to maintain compliance and excellence.
  • Contribute to product lifecycle delivery including manufacturing readiness, system integration, and digital design traceability.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in pressure equipment design and structural integrity assessment
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g. ASME, EN13445, PD5500)
  • Understanding of materials, fabrication processes, and design for manufacture
  • Proficient in CAD and digital engineering tools
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
