Job Purpose
The YJS Prevention Worker plays a crucial role in supporting children and young people at risk of offending by delivering targeted interventions and prevention programs through the Youth Justice Service. This position involves managing a caseload of young individuals, conducting assessments, and collaborating with families and partner agencies to address anti-social behavior and promote positive outcomes. The role is vital in safeguarding and supporting vulnerable children by ensuring timely and professional delivery of evidence-based interventions. Key Responsibilities
Conduct assessments of young people referred to the YJS Prevention Team
Develop and deliver targeted interventions to address anti-social behavior
Manage and coordinate a caseload, ensuring effective prioritization and safeguarding standards
Build positive relationships with young people and their families to encourage engagement
Provide mentoring, advice, and guidance to support behavioral change and re-engagement
Collaborate closely with multi-agency partners, including social care, education, and health services
Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings and case reviews
Prepare and deliver reports to support planning and decision-making
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on YOT systems
Ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding duties and relevant legislation
Promote restorative approaches and evidence-based interventions
Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training

Experience Required
Experience working with children and young people
Experience supporting individuals with challenging behavior or anti-social behavior
Experience working within a multi-agency or partnership setting
Experience in case management or support planning
Knowledge or experience of the youth justice system (desirable)
Experience working in youth services, social care, or criminal justice settings (desirable)

Qualifications & Skills
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience
Understanding of the criminal justice system for young people
Knowledge of restorative justice and evidence-based practice
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to engage and build trust with young people and families
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines
Proficient in IT systems and record-keeping
Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
