SANZA are proud to be supporting a truly unique and inspiring primary school in the heart of St John's Wood in their search for an exceptional SEND Teaching Assistant.

This is not just a job - it's a chance to become part of a school that blends academic excellence with creativity, child-centred practice, and a deep commitment to inclusive education. Whether you're a graduate seeking experience before teacher training, or a skilled practitioner passionate about supporting diverse learners, this opportunity offers a place to grow, learn, and make a lasting impact.

The role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with a range of additional needs (incl. SEMH, communication, cognition, and sensory profiles)
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and class teachers to deliver tailored interventions
  • Support children's emotional wellbeing through nurturing relationships and reflective conversations
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and self-regulation in a creative and supportive way
  • Contribute to classroom life, trips, and whole-school projects, including drama, outdoor learning, and art

The school:

  • A creative, forward-thinking, and holistic school located in beautiful, leafy St John's Wood
  • Strong emphasis on child wellbeing, emotional literacy, and the arts
  • A values-driven environment where kindness, imagination and individuality are celebrated
  • Stunning learning environment with outdoor spaces, an art studio, a music suite, and flexible classroom design
  • Highly inclusive ethos where children with SEND are fully integrated and celebrated
  • Led by a visionary Headteacher and SENCO who prioritise staff development, inclusion, and innovation
  • Rated Good by Ofsted, with Outstanding elements in personal development and behaviour

Why this is a brilliant stepping stone to teacher training:

  • The school has a long track record of developing TAs into teachers
  • Mentoring available from senior leaders and opportunity to observe outstanding teaching
  • Regular CPD and in-house SEND training
  • Opportunities to take on key worker roles, lead small interventions and deliver parts of lessons
  • Collaborate with visiting therapists, arts specialists and multi-disciplinary teams

Salary: Scale 3 or 4 (£23,000-£26,000 actual salary depending on experience)

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEND (in school or other settings)
  • Creative, empathetic, and confident in building relationships with children
  • Passion for inclusive education and holistic learning
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to reflect, adapt, and learn
  • Degree or interest in pursuing teacher training in future (desirable, not essential)
