Primary School 1:1 Teaching Assistant

I am working with a dynamic and inclusive school located in Wiltshire. The school’s motto, ‘Learning for life’, is threaded through all aspects of school life. Staff form supportive, caring partnerships with pupils helping pupils feel valued and safe. This school's aim is to provide every child with the skills they need to become  life-long learners. They also have a strong belief in the importance of children's mental health in their development, incorporating that into the curriculum. 

This school is looking for a bright, engaging 1:1 teaching assistant to join a key stage 1 student starting September. You will play a vital role in a child's educational, emotional and social development, working directly with them on a 1:1 basis. You must be able to provide a calm, consistent and reassuring presence, adapting classroom materials to encourage engagement and proactive learning.

Responsibilities:

• Adapting lesson materials, making them accessible to the pupil.
• Providing one to one support during class.
• Reinforcing learning objectives set by the teacher.
• Assisting with literacy and numerical tasks breaking them down into more manageable steps.
• Understanding the individual needs of the pupil to best support them in class.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the pupil, parents and colleagues effectively.
• Patience, empathy and resilience to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Relevant qualifications and training non essential proving good experience.
• An understanding of relevant safe guarding and child protection procedures.
