Primary SEN Champion

Job Description - Primary SEN Champion

Are you passionate about inspiring young learners and making a difference in the classroom?

Protocol Education is working with welcoming primary schools across Midsomer Norton that are looking for enthusiastic, adaptable and engaging Primary Educators to support pupils from September.

You don't need Qualified Teacher Status to make a positive impact. Whether your experience comes from schools, childcare, sports coaching, youth work, mentoring or other child-centred environments, schools are keen to hear from individuals who can confidently support learning, build positive relationships and bring energy to the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone considering a long-term career in education or looking for flexible work that is both rewarding and varied. You'll have the chance to work in supportive school environments where every member of staff plays an important role in helping children thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Experience supporting children with SEN or SEMH needs is welcomed, but not essential. The most important qualities are enthusiasm, patience and a genuine desire to help children succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
Delivering pre-planned lessons and activities when required
Working alongside class teachers to support learning and engagement
Supporting small groups and individual pupils
Encouraging positive behaviour and classroom participation
Helping children build confidence, resilience and independence
Creating a fun, safe and positive learning environment

Why Choose Protocol Education?

Flexible opportunities including short-term, long-term and permanent roles
Up to £470 per week, paid weekly via PAYE
Opportunities to gain valuable school-based experience
Free access to our CPD Academy and professional development courses
Dedicated local consultants who support you throughout your journey
Easy-to-use booking and availability system
Regular opportunities across Midsomer Norton and surrounding areas
£250 Refer-a-Friend Bonus when you recommend someone who joins Protocol Education

Who We're Looking For

Confident working with children aged 4-11
Friendly, positive and approachable
Patient, supportive and adaptable
Comfortable leading activities and supporting learning
Passionate about helping children achieve their potential
Understanding of the Primary National Curriculum is desirable
Experience with SEN/SEMH is advantageous but not essential
Reliable, enthusiastic and ready to get involved in school life

Why This Role?

Every day is different. One day you might be supporting a child one-to-one to build their confidence, and the next you could be leading a small group activity or helping a class teacher deliver an exciting lesson.

If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely impact children's lives while developing your own skills and experience, this could be the perfect opportunity.

What We Need to Clear You

Passport or proof of right to work in the UK
Two proofs of address (e.g. driving licence, utility bill, council tax statement)
CV covering the last 10 years of work and/or education, with any gaps explained
References covering the last 2 years (including childcare references where applicable)

Ready to take the next step in education? Apply today and join our fantastic network of schools across Midsomer Norton this September.
