Job Description - Primary SEND Teacher

KS1 SEND Teacher - Creative Curriculum | September Start

?? Brent, North West London
?? MPS1 - MPS6 (Inner London) | Full-time
??? Start Date: September 2025

SANZA Teaching are working in partnership with a creative and nurturing SEND school in Brent to recruit a KS1 Teacher with a flair for the arts, a passion for inclusive learning and a warm, child-centred approach.

This unique and inspiring school is a small, specialist setting with a "family-feel" atmosphere. Known locally for its exceptional relationships with families and holistic approach to education, it is a place where pupils thrive both academically and emotionally. With a recent Ofsted report highlighting 'Outstanding features' and strong academic foundations, this school provides the best of both worlds - a structured curriculum and a vibrant, nurturing environment.

Though this is a special school setting, around 85% of pupils successfully transition to mainstream secondary schools, and the curriculum reflects this aspiration. Every child is supported to achieve their personal best through small class sizes, exceptional adult ratios and a curriculum rich in music, drama, PE, art and creativity.

About the Role

This KS1 role is teaching a small group of 10 pupils (all with EHCPs for autism) following the National Curriculum. You will have the support of three experienced teaching assistants, and you'll work within a team of forward-thinking, collaborative teachers who truly care about the children they serve.

Pupils are bright, curious and full of character. Many are sensory-seeking or benefit from visual structure, and the school has created a calm, engaging environment that supports their needs through colour-coded zones, sensory play equipment and specialist resources. Lessons are active, creative and rooted in real-life learning.

The school loves teachers with a creative background - whether in music, drama, art or performance - and values imaginative educators who can bring learning to life through movement, rhythm, storytelling and expression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Lead a team of TAs to create a safe, nurturing and structured classroom
  • Use creative arts to support emotional regulation and communication
  • Plan for and deliver personalised learning based on EHCP targets
  • Work closely with families, therapists and the wider inclusion team
  • Monitor pupil progress using a mix of academic and developmental tools

The Ideal Candidate

  • QTS or equivalent UK teaching qualification
  • KS1 teaching experience and/or experience within SEND (mainstream or specialist)
  • Understanding of autism and experience working with children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A nurturing and calm approach, with a sense of fun and creativity
  • A background in music, drama, or the arts would be a huge asset

What the School Offers:

  • Exceptionally small classes with high levels of adult support
  • Weekly training and CPD, including autism and communication strategies
  • A leadership team who invest in staff wellbeing and career growth
  • Access to arts specialists and visiting performers
  • Beautiful, calm learning spaces with integrated sensory provision
  • Warm, welcoming team who treat each other like family
