Job Description - Primary SEND Teacher

Full time SEND teacher at a Primary School, SN5

Permanent Contract

Start date: September

Pay: £31,650 - £43,607 SEN allowance £2,679 - £5,285

I am working with a vibrant and diverse Primary school located in Swindon. This Primary School is part of an Academies Trust and has 284 children on roll, this includes their Nursery class for children aged 3-4yrs, 10 mainstream classes, three Unit Classes for children with Complex Needs, and a Special Resourced Provision (SRP) for children who are physically disabled. All of the SRP children, along with others with complex learning and emotional needs are all fully integrated into the mainstream school.

The school pushes to ensure that children are at the heart of every decision they make so they are happy, safe and confident. The school’s aim is to teach children how to navigate through life safely, happily and healthily. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities teacher across key stages 1 and 2.

Responsibilities:

  • Championing the best interests of every child.

  • Assessing student needs and understanding their specific challenges, working hand in hand with other professionals and parents.

  • Creating individualised education plans that consider the unique needs of each student.

  • Be able to provide top quality emotional and behavioural support for students with a wide variety of needs.

  • Supporting transitions and teaching children about the world around them, relationships, emotions, reproduction and health, as well as transferable skills to help with life.

  • Work in line with the Kapow curriculum to provide pupils with an engaging, knowledge-rich, and progressive learning experience.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEND children is essential.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents and colleagues effectively.

  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of students.

  • Patience, empathy and resilience to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Relevant qualifications and training in supporting children with SEND.

  • An understanding of relevant safe guarding and child protection procedures.
