The Role
We are working on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Nottingham and the surrounding areas to find a dedicated, enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children's learning and development to make a genuine difference in the classroom.
You'll join a supportive staff team within a school that values collaborative working, ongoing training, and a nurturing environment for both pupils and staff. The role would suit someone who is patient, proactive, and committed to helping every pupil succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils, including those with additional needs Help prepare classroom resources and materials ahead of lessons Support pupils to stay on task, engaged, and motivated during lessonsPupil Development
Support pupils' academic progress, offering encouragement and constructive feedback Help implement individual support plans, including EHCPs and IEPs where applicable Encourage pupils' social, emotional, and personal development Assist with monitoring and recording pupil progressClassroom & Behaviour Management
Support the teacher in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment Help implement the school's behaviour policy consistently and fairly Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies where neededCollaboration & Communication
Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure consistent support for pupils Communicate professionally with parents/carers where appropriate Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and CPD opportunities relevant to the roleSafeguarding
Uphold the school's safeguarding policies at all times, promoting the welfare and wellbeing of every pupil Report any safeguarding concerns promptly through the correct channels
Requirements
Essential
Experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting pupils Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow instructions and support the class teacher effectively Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one Eligibility to work in the UKDesirable
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification Experience supporting pupils with SEND Experience in KS1 and/or KS2 settings First Aid or safeguarding-related training
