Principal Business Analyst – Investment Data Platforms

We're supporting a global investment management organisation as they continue to invest heavily in their strategic data platform, and we're looking for an experienced Principal Business Analyst to join the team.

Before reading any further, it's important to understand that this is not a traditional Business Analyst position.

This role sits firmly within the buy-side investment management world, and we're specifically looking for someone with extensive experience working with operational and investment data within an asset management environment.

If your background is primarily centred around retail banking, payments, lending, treasury, insurance or regulatory reporting, this is unlikely to be the right opportunity.

What you'll be doing

You'll be responsible for partnering closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, architects and technology teams to deliver strategic data solutions across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Leading discovery workshops and requirements-gathering activities.

* Translating business requirements into technical specifications, user stories, process maps and source-to-target mappings.

* Performing detailed SQL-based analysis, reconciliation and validation of large datasets.

* Supporting data integration, migration and transformation initiatives.

* Defining and implementing data quality controls, governance standards and lineage processes.

* Managing testing activities, including system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT) and production implementation.

* Acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.

The experience we're looking for

To be successful in this position, you'll need demonstrable experience working with:

* Positions, holdings, transactions and securities data.

* Portfolio, benchmark, pricing and reference data.

* Corporate actions and investment performance data.

* Investment Book of Record (IBOR) and Accounting Book of Record (ABOR) environments.

* Data integration, reconciliation and transformation activities.

* Source-to-target mapping, data lineage and data governance.

* Complex SQL-based analysis.

* Data engineering and data platform teams.

* Agile delivery environments.

Experience of working with technologies and platforms such as the following would be highly advantageous:

* Snowflake

* Aladdin

* SimCorp Dimension

* Charles River

* Bloomberg AIM

* SQL Server

What we're looking for

We're searching for someone who understands not only how data is structured and transformed, but also how it is consumed throughout the investment lifecycle.

You will be comfortable discussing positions, securities, transactions, holdings, pricing, benchmarks and portfolio data with both business and technology stakeholders.

Most importantly, you'll have recent experience operating within a buy-side asset management environment and will be capable of making an immediate impact from day one.

This role is based in London and operates within a hybrid working model.
