As a Cloud Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of Schroders cloud platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, develop cloud strategies, and drive the adoption of best practices in cloud computing. The team

You will be part of the Enterprise Cloud Architecture team working across Azure, AWS and on premises platforms and services. You will be the principal cloud architect and subject matter expert for cloud, responsible for architecting a best-in-class cloud platform across both Azure and AWS public cloud service providers, ensuring that developer and business user experience is always at the forefront of your mind when architecting and designing cloud solutions. You will join a highly technical team who are solely focused on building a leading-edge cloud service who are integral to successful cloud adoption maturity.

 What you’ll do

• Design and develop scalable and secure cloud architectures based on industry best practices, focusing on core cloud platforms, infrastructure, and security.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and translate them into effective cloud solutions.
• Accelerate the cloud first strategy through strong architectural building blocks and reusable Cloud patterns.
• Develop solutions that provide a great engineering user experience from conception through to production go live.
• Partner with the DevOps CI/CD Toolchain team to ensure that Cloud requirements are incorporated in the toolchain.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams regarding the implementation and deployment of cloud-based applications and services.
• Evaluate existing cloud infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations for enhancing performance, scalability, and security.
• Define cloud security policies, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and applications.
• Assess the cloud security posture to identify potential risks and implement appropriate solutions for remediation.
• Manage cloud governance requirements to ensure standards are upheld and cloud service lifecycles are managed.
• Understand the needs of the Schroders engineering community and ensure solutions address requirements.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in cloud technologies, infrastructure, and security, and provide recommendations for their adoption.
• Participate in the selection and evaluation of cloud services, assessing offerings against business requirements and industry standards.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud architectures, processes, and procedures.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need 

• Experienced in architecting, engineering, and implementing cloud solutions on Azure and AWS.
• Experience relating to security across cloud infrastructure and services.
• Detailed knowledge of the infrastructure stack including Virtualisation, Kubernetes, Windows and Linux as well as Storage, Database and Networking
• Experience with modern DevOps tooling (e.g., GITHUB, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Azure ARM, Ansible).
• Familiarity with software development and software development practices (SDLC).
• Familiarity with modern engineering and agile practices as well as CI/CD.
• Passionate about building modern cloud services.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts.
• Experience of working as part of a transformational change programme.
• Deep understanding of broader cloud ecosystem including Cloud Computing Technologies, business drivers and emerging technologies and trends.
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to self-manage.
• Open to working in areas outside of your comfort zone, experimenting with new technologies and techniques.

• Understanding of cloud trends and technologies.
• Understanding of security principles across the wider technology stack.
• Understanding of infrastructure services and systems.
• Experience of working in/with cross-functional teams.
• Cloud certifications for at least Azure or AWS.
• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
