Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Our client, a leading consultancy in the construction and rail sector, is currently seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in London on a contract basis. This position involves working on the prestigious HS2 project, with our client acting as the design partner for BBV on OOC. This role is outside IR35 and offers a 6-12 month engagement with significant responsibilities in the design of M&E systems in a tunnels environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Production and approval of design concepts, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents
Establishment of internal design standards and processes to achieve continuous improvement in quality and efficiency
Collaborating within project teams to achieve project objectives
Supervising and approving the work of others, and signing off design certificates
Preparing, checking, and approving feasibility studies and detailed design technical reports
Implementing effective and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations
Managing project-related correspondence effectively

Job Requirements:

Experience in leading electrical services design within the built environment or transport infrastructure
Understanding of multi-disciplinary issues associated with E&P and/or the built environment
Previous experience in delivering electrical design packages for railway and/or highways tunnel environments
Familiarity with contract conditions, processes, and procedures
Proficiency in programming, delivery, budgets, and timescales
Knowledge in the application of safety standards and CDM regulations
Experience in line management
Knowledgeable in relevant design software
Relevant degree and membership of a professional body, such as ICE, IET, IMechE
Professionally qualified Chartered Engineer
