The Company
Our client is a global business that design and manufacture bespoke process equipment for the water industry. The business has over 100 offices globally and manufacturing sites in numerous countries across the world. The company employ over 4,000 with annual sales in excess of £1 Billion.
The site in South East Wales specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke skid mounted process systems that are used in highly bespoke applications and consist of pipework, pumps, valves, tanks, control panels and the associated control systems required.
The business is recruiting for Principal Electrical Engineer to take the lead on electrical engineering projects and the electrical engineering team with immediate effect.
The Role
The Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading and managing the activities of the electrical engineering team delivering projects. The role will also see you leading projects individually.
An example project you will lead you flow as follows:
Writing the control philosophy from the initial P&ID. Carrying out calculations to size motors, cables, heat losses, intrinsic safety calculations Creation of the I/O list needed for the system. Creating the specifications needed for all the instruments and electrical hardware and PLCs needed for the system. Writing FAT procedures for equipment Occasional travel to control panel manufacturers for witnessing tests. Liaison with equipment suppliers until the project is delivered at site. From a leadership and management perspective you will be leading a team of five which are a mix of electrical engineers and electrical design engineers. Your responsibilities here will include:
Allocation of work against projects Mentoring the engineer’s technical development Carrying out annual PDRs Reviewing quality of work carried out by the team Looking for areas to improve processes within projects to improve efficiency The business offers an agile working policy which gives you the flexibility to work two days a week from home.
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Principal Electrical Engineer role you will need:
A background in electrical engineering in relation to running projects. To be able to carry out electrical engineering qualifications To have either mentored, supervised or managed engineers previously. To be a strong problem solver A supporting electrical engineering qualification
