Roles and Responsibilities – Principal Electrical Engineer
Act in the capacity of consultant on matters of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Safety.

Review, amend and produce Electrical Safety Management Systems bespoke to the client’s requirements.

Produce and review Electrical Engineering Standards bespoke to the client’s requirements.

Presenting reports to clients and undertaking training that has been identified in reports.

Held Senior Authorised Person status in previous employment and continue to act as a Senior Authorised Person for clients as appropriate.

Previous experience as an Electrical Authorising/Assessing Engineer and provide that service to clients.

Produce high level technical reports including recommendations following Electrical Audits taking into account International, European and UK Legislation, Guidance and standards.

Work unsupervised and as part of a team and should have previous managerial experience.

Assist with general activities and the development of the business.

Manage the Consultancy Team: including 1 to 1s; annual reviews; disciplinary; holiday approval etc.

New proposals and tenders:
Develop the scope of work
Supervise the production
Assist in the production and development
Review and approve

Supervision and management of all consultancy sales activities

Assist in the development of new business and strategic partnerships – take a lead role when appropriate.

Responsible for the on-time and on-budget delivery of all Consultancy Projects.

Provide Electrical Technical Support internally and externally to ESUK. Act as an Electrical Technical Authority.

Candidate Requirements
Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering (at least 2:1 honours).
Masters in Electrical Engineering preferred.
Chartered Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology mandatory.
In depth technical knowledge of low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) networks.
Previous experience in carrying out short circuit, protection, load-flow and arc flash studies.
Technical report writing to a high standard.
Previous experience of BS 7671:2008 (2015) software such as Amtech Pro Design will be an advantage.
Previous experience using electrical system analysis software such as EasyPower; ETAP or SKM.
Expert level of knowledge on the operation of HV and LV networks including switching programs, switchgear operation and safe systems of work.
Excellent communication skills including providing client report presentations
Excellent written English and to be familiar with the Microsoft packages such as word and excel.
Attention to detail, on-time and on-budget delivery of Projects.
It is essential that the candidate has good time keeping and works well in a team.
Must hold a valid passport and driving license.
Must not hold any restrictions preventing work within government or security sectors.

Travel & Expenses:
The role will require travel within the UK, Ireland with occasional mainland Europe, and international travel including overnight stays. Expenses for travel and subsistence will either be arranged or paid in advance or out-of-pocket expenses will be fully reimbursed.
