Position: Principal Laywer

Location: The Silverlink North, NE27 0BY

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 3+ Months

Working Hours: 37 hours per day

Pay Rate: PAYE: £ 70.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

Provide high-quality legal advice and support to North Tyneside Council.

Manage and deliver complex legal work within the assigned area of responsibility.

Provide clear and practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders.

Draft, review and advise on legal documents, agreements and reports.

Represent the Council in legal matters where required.

Support colleagues and contribute to effective legal service delivery.

Ensure all work is completed in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards.

Person Specification

Must-Have Requirements

Qualified lawyer with relevant professional legal experience.

Proven experience providing legal advice within a public sector or similar environment.

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and legal procedures.

Ability to manage complex workloads and prioritise competing deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Right to work in the UK.

All required qualifications, licences or professional registrations must be verified.

Nice-to-Have Requirements

Previous experience working with a local authority.

Experience handling complex legal matters independently.

Familiarity with public sector governance and decision-making processes.
