Job Description - Principal modelling engineer

Principal Modelling Engineer - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, (PE19) - Permanent We are expanding an existing team led by our Engineering Manager at our office in St Neots.

You will help design, implement, and support new capability using your team.

You will have opportunity to take part in both domestic and international trials of your teams’ outputs, while working with both present and future technology.

Working autonomously, you will plan and run development Sprints.

You will be supported by the Engineering Manager who will work with you to coordinate outputs between sites and to plan team training events.

Recognising and relaying customer requests, demands, and comments to our Lincoln location and as the project progresses, you will be crucial to ensure that development, verification, and validation are successful.

You will develop into the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the project acting as the main point of contact for stakeholder queries.

The invaluable experience you’ll bring, to help us achieve more.

Joining a large project at the initial stages, you will help manage a small team through the production of Simulink based models for incorporation onto FPGA boards.

Core to this role will be your understanding of Physics/Mathematical principles at Degree-level and experience as a Modelling engineer.

A working knowledge of electro-optic (EO) infra-red (IR) and radio frequency (RF) sensors, within a Defence setting would be beneficial but not essential.

This will mean providing ongoing support and continuous assistance during deployment to help with these design and implementation tasks, using your knowledge of Simulink to model systems.

You’ll also be a willing mentor, able to answer questions, bounce ideas, drive and develop the team around you.

Essential experience Experience in managing a team Test and acceptance of integrated systems A deep understanding of Physics/Mathematical principles at Degree-level System Design Documentation Coding experience (MATLAB & Simulink) Desirable experience Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Modelling systems Experience with the FPGA build process for Xilinx targets Requirements Management (Simulink Requirements) Industry knowledge of EW systems Experience across the Engineering Delivery Lifecycle Our non-negotiables: Due to the highly secure nature of the projects that you will be involved with, you must be: A UK National and eligible to work in the UK Eligible to obtain and maintain a UK Government DV-level security clearance Negotiable Salary - DOE.
