Crawley | £45,000–£56,000

Our client has a strong pipeline of development work across the South East and is looking to appoint a Principal Planner in Crawley. The role offers direct exposure to developers, landowners and multidisciplinary project teams.

The team’s workload covers housing, commercial, airport-related development, regeneration and appeals. You will not be restricted to one narrow stage of the planning process; the intention is for you to see instructions through and understand the commercial decisions behind them.

Where you will add value

Prepare clear planning appraisals, statements and strategic advice.

Manage planning applications and coordinate technical inputs.

Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and project teams.

Negotiate constructively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.

Review work produced by junior colleagues and support their development.

Contribute to fee proposals, client development and the commercial management of projects.

About you

Mrtpi; solid application and appeal experience; confident managing consultants and clients. You should also be organised, dependable and able to explain planning issues in straightforward language. The business is interested in people who value good advice and long-term client relationships rather than unnecessary internal politics.

Package and working arrangements

The salary is £45,000–£56,000. The wider package includes hybrid working, pension, bonus, subscriptions and progression to Associate. Exact arrangements will depend on experience and will be discussed openly during the process.
