This role is built around one central idea: take ownership of varied local instructions and provide practical advice to long-standing clients. The team’s current workload includes residential development, rural estates, agricultural buildings, conversions, heritage assets and land promotion.

What you would be doing

The team’s workload includes residential development, rural estates, agricultural buildings, conversions, heritage assets and land promotion. The central purpose of the position is to take ownership of varied local instructions and provide practical advice to long-standing clients.

Prepare clear planning appraisals, statements and strategic advice.

Manage planning applications and coordinate technical inputs.

Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and project teams.

Negotiate constructively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.

Review work produced by junior colleagues and support their development.

Contribute to fee proposals, client development and the commercial management of projects.

About you

Sound english planning knowledge; able to manage applications independently; chartership welcomed. You should also be organised, dependable and able to explain planning issues in straightforward language. The business is interested in people who value good advice and long-term client relationships rather than unnecessary internal politics.

Package and working arrangements

The salary is £45,000–£55,000. The wider package includes flexible working, pension, professional subscriptions and a friendly independent culture. Exact arrangements will depend on experience and will be discussed openly during the process.
