Title:

Principal Lead Cyber Security Analyst

Location:

Commutable from Bristol, with 3-4 days a week on-site (South West).
Rate:

£700 to £800 per day, Inside IR35.
Duration:

Up to 12 months.

Defence sector, partnering with one of the world's largest IT Solutions Providers.

The Information Security Principal (Security Operations) is responsible for leading and managing the technical controls required to ensure the organisations technology estate is protected against risk from cyber-attack.They also lead the response procedures and investigations of security events or incidents, remediating those incidents, identify potential process improvements, and maintain organisational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:

Lead and manage a growing team of CSOC analysts.
Technical Controls:

Ensure the organization's technology estate is protected against cyber-attack risks.
Incident Response:

Lead response procedures and investigations of security events or incidents.
Process Improvement:

Identify potential process improvements and maintain organizational readiness.
Automated Monitoring:

Design, develop, and enable automated monitoring processes.
Vulnerability Management:

Develop and implement vulnerability assessments and enterprise-wide scanning strategies.
Stakeholder Communication:

Communicate directly with leadership and external stakeholders on progress and status.
Team Management:

Provide day-to-day management, performance management, and development of the team.

Required Skills and Experience:
IT Security Operations:

Extensive experience in IT security operations and security monitoring, including cloud-based platforms (Azure, Microsoft 365, Amazon AWS).
Vulnerability Management:

Expert knowledge across large and complex technology estates.
Digital Forensics:

Experience in digital forensics.
SIEM:

Proven experience in the design and implementation of SIEM and network analysis tools.
Information Security Management:

Awareness of principles, methods, techniques, and tools for managing information security in complex business environments.
Additional Responsibilities:
Development of Monitoring Processes:

Advising on the latest SIEM and network analysis tools.
Risk-Based Vulnerability Prioritization:

Leading in prioritizing vulnerabilities through a risk-based approach.
Guidance and Leadership:

Providing tailored specialist advice and overseeing the lifecycle of vulnerability management.
Team Performance and Development:

Taking responsibility for performance management, sickness handling, training, and development of the team.
Training Plans:

Developing training plans in conjunction with the Head of Information Security.

This role demands a high level of expertise in cyber security, particularly in IT security operations, vulnerability management, and digital forensics. Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior leadership are crucial.
