An excellent opportunity for an experienced Structures Engineer to join a Highways Client and play a key role in managing and improving critical bridge and structural assets. This position offers the chance to work on high-profile projects while helping shape long-term asset strategies across a large and complex network.
The Role:
Lead the management and development of bridge and structural asset programmes across a diverse regional network. Develop and implement asset management plans that deliver value for money and support long-term infrastructure performance. Commission and oversee structural surveys, inspections, and technical assessments. Review and approve technical reports, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation. Provide expert engineering advice to support renewal, maintenance, and improvement schemes. Monitor asset condition data and utilise evidence-based approaches to inform investment decisions. Support the prioritisation of structural defects and recommend effective maintenance strategies. Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Contribute to the development of best practice standards and continuous improvement initiatives.Requirements:
Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent). Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation. Strong experience within highways structures, bridges, or related infrastructure assets. Knowledge of structural inspections, assessments, asset management, and maintenance planning. Experience working with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams. Understanding of relevant industry standards, asset management principles, and engineering best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed technical decisions. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
