Private Client Lawyer (Senior Level) – Reigate Office

My client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Private Client Lawyer at Senior level to join a well-established firm based in Reigate. This role is open to both full-time and part-time candidates, providing flexibility and the opportunity to be part of a thriving legal practice.

About the Role

This vacancy has arisen due to increased client instructions and referrals, alongside the phased retirement of the Head of Department.

You will bring enthusiasm, technical expertise and a positive attitude to the team. A proven track record of handling a comprehensive range of private client matters is essential. You will be expected to work independently, showcasing the ability to manage client matters from inception to completion without supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering expert legal advice across private client areas, including wills, probate, inheritance tax, trusts, powers of attorney, estate administration and Court of Protection matters
• Building and maintaining a solid client/referrer base while contributing to the growth of the practice through marketing and business development initiatives
• Demonstrating strong cash-flow management and adhering to fee-earning targets, including regular and timely billing
• Displaying exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with clients requiring sensitive support
• Upholding professional standards in client care, compliance, confidentiality, and file management

Required Competencies

• Extensive experience in complex private client matters with STEP and/or SFE qualifications being highly advantageous
• In-depth knowledge of inheritance tax, trusts, deputyship orders, drafting deeds of variation, and advising trustees on legal and tax issues
• Proficiency in elderly client visits, estate accounts and overall estate administration
• Strong business development skills with a commitment to networking and growing the firm’s reputation
• Adept in working independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Computer literacy and familiarity with legal case management systems
