Are you an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer looking for your next temporary opportunity?
We are currently working with a busy housing service in Northampton to recruit an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer for a temporary assignment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a housing professional with experience across HMO licensing, housing standards, inspections and enforcement to join an established team and take on a varied and rewarding caseload.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll play a key role in improving standards across the private rented sector, working with landlords, agents, tenants and partner organisations to ensure properties are safe, compliant and properly managed.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Carrying out property inspections and HHSRS assessments.
*
Investigating complaints relating to disrepair, overcrowding, hazards and housing-related nuisance.
*
Preparing schedules of works and serving statutory notices.
*
Managing HMO licensing applications and compliance, including Mandatory and Additional Licensing.
*
Investigating and taking action against unlicensed and poorly managed HMOs.
*
Working with landlords and letting agents to achieve compliance.
*
Preparing cases for prosecution and civil penalties.
*
Supporting Rent Repayment Order cases and other enforcement activity.
*
Conducting interviews under caution where required.
*
Executing warrants of entry and undertaking works in default when necessary.
*
Preparing evidence and attending Magistrates' Court and First-tier Tribunal proceedings.
*
Working alongside Planning, Housing Options, Trading Standards, Police, Fire & Rescue and other partner agencies.
*
Using intelligence and risk-based approaches to identify properties requiring intervention.
*
Contributing to initiatives designed to tackle overcrowding and improve private-sector housing conditions.

We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and has hands-on experience within private sector housing.
