Private Sector Housing Team Leader

We are looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Team Leader to lead a team of Environmental Health Officers and Technical Officers delivering a broad range of private sector housing functions. The role will combine team management with technical oversight of complex enforcement cases, HMOs and legal proceedings.

The Role
·Line manage a team of EHOs and Technical Officers across a range of Private Sector Housing functions.
·Use statutory powers to regulate and improve housing conditions within the private rented sector.
·Provide technical guidance to officers on complex cases, including HMOs and enforcement action.
·Undertake the first review of prosecution files, tribunal cases and financial penalty notices.
·Manage a reduced caseload of complex Private Sector Housing cases.
·Support officers with inspections, statutory notices, schedules of work and preparation of evidence files.
·Support delivery of the Council's Housing Assistance Policy and associated programmes.
·Provide expert advice to customers on Private Sector Housing matters.
·Support the Head of Housing Solutions with the delivery and development of specialist housing services.

Key Requirements
·Strong experience working within Private Sector Housing in a local authority environment.
·Experience managing or supervising Environmental Health Officers and/or Technical Officers.
·Strong technical knowledge of Private Sector Housing legislation and enforcement.
·Experience dealing with complex housing enforcement cases and HMOs.
·Experience reviewing prosecution files, tribunal cases and financial penalty notices.
·Experience undertaking property inspections and preparing statutory notices, schedules of work and evidence files.
·Good working knowledge of Housing Assistance programmes and associated legislation.
