Our client, a highly regarded law firm, is looking to hire a 2-4PQE Probate Associate on a permanent basis.

Role Overview:

As a Probate Associate, you will be an integral part of the Tax, Trusts, and Estates department assisting in administering estates.

Key Responsibilities

Collecting Information:

Gathering information from clients, institutions, and valuers to populate inheritance tax returns.
Estate Accounts:

Drawing up estate accounts, including in STEP format.
Inheritance Tax Calculations:

Completing inheritance tax calculations, including those involving relievable property and conditionally exempt assets.
Client Interaction:

Dealing with executors and beneficiaries professionally and efficiently, instilling trust and confidence.
Grant Applications:

Preparing grant applications and ancillary documents (such as notices of power reserved, powers of attorney, and forms of renunciation).
Asset Transfer:

Working with banks and other institutions to transfer assets out of the name of the deceased and settle liabilities.
Estate Administration:

Taking responsibility for concluding the administration of estates by completing estate accounts and ensuring the deceased’s tax affairs are finalised, sometimes in conjunction with the relevant accountant.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a UK qualified 2-4PQE Associate with experience with probate matters and administering estates.
