Process Engineer – New Product Introduction (NPI) Coatbridge Take a new battery design from concept through prototype testing and into production—and help shape its manufacturing. TXM Recruit is recruiting a Process Engineer with NPI responsibilities for a specialist battery manufacturer in Coatbridge. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys getting involved across the full product lifecycle. You’ll combine practical manufacturing improvements with new product development, turning customer requirements into workable designs and robust production processes. From developing concepts in SolidWorks to overseeing prototype builds, you’ll see the results of your engineering decisions on the factory floor. The opportunity Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you’ll work closely with production teams, customers and suppliers to introduce new products and improve existing manufacturing methods. Your responsibilities will include: * Taking new products from concept to industrialisation, coordinating design, documentation, prototype builds and qualification testing. * Developing battery design proposals, mechanical designs and customer interface drawings using SolidWorks. * Estimating tooling requirements, labour costs and project timescales. * Improving factory layouts, workflows and manufacturing methods to increase efficiency. * Leading continuous improvement projects and applying lean manufacturing techniques. * Investigating defects, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions. * Creating manufacturing bills of materials, work instructions and accurate product structures. * Using production data, KPIs and time standards to identify and measure improvements. What you’ll bring You’ll be comfortable working through technical challenges, collaborating with production colleagues and taking responsibility for delivering improvements. We’re looking for: * A degree in engineering or a science discipline. * At least three years’ process engineering experience within a manufacturing or factory environment. * A track record of delivering continuous improvement in a lean manufacturing setting. * Competence in SolidWorks, alongside mechanical design and tolerancing experience. * Strong technical report-writing, communication, and organisational skills. * A practical approach to problem-solving and a clear commitment to health and safety. Experience in battery technology or electrochemistry, aerospace quality standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100, environmental testing, Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA, or project management would be an advantage. It’s a varied engineering position with direct involvement in design reviews, customer requirements, hands-on development, and production improvement. The role offers a Monday-to-Friday day shift, a 37-hour working week, with start times between 7:45 am and 8:30 am.
