Job Description - Procurement Manager

Procurement Manager – 6 Month contract - Day rate negotiable - Hybrid working(London/Reading)

We have an exciting opportunity for an immediately available Procurement Manager to join us on a 6 month contract, with hybrid working where you must be willing to travel to our Reading/London office every two weeks.

The Procurement Business Partner is a senior role partnering with our Procurement function, working across, People & Culture, Travel teams as well as Finance to oversee the procurement activity for services required by these support functions. This role will also play an essential role across new markets in the USA and the expansion across Eastern Europe, as well as core countries including the UK, Ireland, and Europe.

What You’ll Do:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:

Categories:
Central Functions Categories – P&C, Travel & other misc. Indirect spend (Finance, Gift Cards, New Business Development)
You will develop category sourcing plans across indirect categories like P&C, Travel, and Finance. A key focus is creating a sourcing strategy and RFP for Travel, Global Mobility, and Talent Acquisition. You’ll build solid relationships with stakeholders, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide market intelligence for your business areas. Supplier relationship management and alignment with Primark’s growth plans are also essential. As Primark enters new markets, you’ll ensure category plans consider store roll expansion.

Compliance and Governance:
You will negotiate contracts with both new and existing suppliers, ensuring favourable terms for the organization. Additionally, you’ll champion Primark’s environmental and sustainability agenda within P&C, Travel, and Finance Procurement. You’ll also provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement processes, legal frameworks, and purchase orders. Lastly, your role involves identifying and mitigating commercial risks to protect Primark.

Contractual and Legal:
You will ensure Primark’s legal protection and insurance during all procurement activities. Ensure compliance with the contract approval policy through legal review. You will support Corporate Social Responsibility and ensure that suppliers adhere to the Primark Code of Practice

Operational Effectiveness:
In line with Primark’s Ethical Trade Strategy, you will establish a robust supplier base through category management. Additionally, you will enhance efficiency by deploying technological solutions and leveraging new methods. You will maintain a current view of overall spends supplier data, market intelligence and best practice.
Complexity – Internal, Spend and Supply Market:
You will partner with a wide and diverse network of Manager, Head of and Director level Primark stakeholders. As part of Primark’s Procurement Team, you will actively contribute to the development and progression of the function.

What You’ll Bring

You will bring 5 years related experience in a Procurement Management role, with significant people & culture, travel and Indirect subject matter experience and market knowledge.
You have experience of negotiating and sourcing complex global agreements.
You have demonstrated success in developing and delivering multi-year strategies ensuring competitive commercial advantage.
You have demonstrated ability to forge close business relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all management levels.
You have expert knowledge of financial, legal contract negotiations, great awareness of ethical sourcing and corporate social responsibility issues.
You will appreciate working with Primark culture and values and behaviours – caring, dynamic, together.
