Job Description - Procurement Officer

The Procurement Officer will play a vital role within the Procurement & Supply Chain department, ensuring the effective acquisition of goods and services. This position is for a Procurement Officer working for a Housing Association is based in Durham (also has offices in north Newcastle) and focuses on delivering value through strategic procurement practices.

Description

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet organisational goals.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and review contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Monitor procurement processes and maintain accurate records for auditing purposes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to forecast procurement needs and align with budgets.
  • Negotiate favourable terms with suppliers to achieve value for money.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical procurement practices within the property industry.

Profile

A successful Procurement Officer should have:

  • Experience in procurement within a public sector or Not for Profit environment.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier negotiation.
  • An understanding of the new PA23 Public Sector Regulations.
  • Familiarity with the property industry and its procurement requirements.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimise procurement strategies.
  • A qualification in procurement, supply chain, or a related discipline is desirable.
