Job Description - Product and Pricing Manager FTR (9m FTC)

Salary Scale: £42,796 - £57,042 per annum

What is the purpose of this job?

The Fares, Ticketing ad Retail (FTR) programme aims to create a simpler, better railway for everyone in Britain whether through fares simplification or interaction customers have with the industry as they purchase tickets for travel. This role will be directly responsible for the delivery and optimisation of our product and pricing strategy

A key member of our Fares team, you will utilise customer insight, industry best practice, and data-driven thinking to support the development and delivery of the FTR Integrated fares model at a rapid pace. This will enable you to assist train operators with delivery implementation and best practice.

Achieve revenue growth via patronage improvement and revenue improvement. This is a high-impact role within a complex stakeholder landscape. You will be part of a talented team that is shaping the future of UK rail fare reform.

What can I expect to do in this job? 

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but things you can expect to be involved with include:

· Drive the development and delivery of a data led, customer focused pricing strategy aligned with the integrated fares model.

· Embed customer insights and market data into all pricing decisions, ensuring compliance and mitigation of commercial risks.

· Accountable for the delivery of specific fares projects as part of the integrated fares reform plans.

· Define and deliver optimal prices by product and service per the integrated fares model with adherence to fares policy.

· Own and manage pricing deliveries with operators, LTAs and third parties to maximise the whole network return.

· Champion multi modal product development, whilst considering rail revenue, making travel smoother and more integrated across transport modes where relevant.

· Support the fares test strategy of products and mobilisation plans, as part of the project team, to launch date so that fares products are delivered to time and have been robustly tested before launch.

· Represent the fares work package team, and support new initiatives from other areas of GBR, FTR, and the wider industry. Communicate transparently, and concisely with stakeholders and create a story for the fares products that are being delivered.

· Build and implement systematic fares delivery processes and KPIs to support the fares strategy execution

FTR, DfT, RDG PMS Team, Train Operating Companies, Senior RDG Governance bodies.

 

 

Degree or equivalent professional qualification or extensive business experience, in Pricing & Revenue Management or similar

· You bring strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and a proven ability to deliver business critical plans that drive results.

· Analytical, curious and customer centric, you use data and insight to shape decisions and spot emerging opportunities.

· Rail Pricing systems experience

· Extensive experience of fares setting, products vision, strategy.

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple and understandable way to time-poor senior stakeholders

· Experience of rail retail systems, and eCommerce is also desirable
