Job Description - Product and Services Director (2023-13444)

As the Framatome business continues to grow in the UK, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical sales director to work both internally and externally to provide engineering solutions and services to our customers across the project lifecycle within the defence sector and with a nuclear infrastructure context.

Specific roles and accountabilities include but not limited to:

Technical Expertise

  • Deriving UK market gap analysis and mapping to Framatome global product services focusing on import and export of go-ready technologies (e.g. Techno Bricks)
  • Recognise opportunities for cross-selling from or within current client contacts and manage commissions
  • Good technical understanding and knowledge of nuclear defence client base to include but not limited to AWE, Devonport and nuclear naval bases
  • Cross-coordination of products and services with core nuclear generation markets
  • Leads reviews and proactively plans client development activities, developing sector go-to-market strategies and capture plans
  • Ensures sufficient team competency and tools in area of responsibility to profitably meet market demand. Mentors team members and actively delegates and drives succession planning
  • Working across UK and international business lines, co-ordinate UK functional capability and capacity sales demand including localized supply chain management specifically in the area of I&C, Construction, Commissioning, Completions and Asset Management expertise
  • Builds external reputation through consistent demonstration of professional expertise and behaviour
  • Client Development
  • Independently delivers clients’ sustainable performance outcomes through activator journeys and digital solution
  • Leads client development activities in high-potential and large client relationships
  • Maintains a strategic dialogue with clients on value-creation opportunities
  • Identifies new client opportunities and grows a large and profitable portfolio of client relationships
  • Writes and negotiates successful proposals and contracts that are material to the business (e.g. large, impactful, replicable, or innovative activations)
  • Provide technical governance on projects to ensure a “technically excellent” solution in accordance with the client’s brief
  • Through internal and external client feedback, make sure that the technical content of the work carried out is correct and completed in accordance within the agreed timescales and budget
  • Work autonomously to translate client briefs to deliver required projects and outputs from inception to completion

Key Requirements of the role are as follows:

  • Demonstrable application of UK Engineering, Nuclear and Health & Safety regulations across the project lifecycle, from design to operations including adherence to statutory and company procedures to identify and mitigate risk and to inform others of any residual hazards
  • Ability to provide technical credibility to clients with significant experience in engineering leadership positions either as the client or as a consultant. Successful candidate to provide examples of translating customer pre-positioning into work winning opportunities ideally within a defence nuclear environment. The individual should have pre-established client network to influence on day 1 of appointment.
  • Apprenticeship or Engineering Degree in or equivalent in one of the following: Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Electrical or Building Facilities. Post-graduate qualification a plus.
  • Experience winning and delivering defence sector/energy projects, including managing and directing complex projects to a successful conclusion from opportunity capture
  • Deep understanding of heat and power generating technologies such as nuclear, boilers, engines, heat pumps, steam and gas turbines and associated balance of plant
  • Deep understanding of quality management systems and processes, financial project management systems, business and commercial issues. Ability to source and develop new business opportunities. Promote an ingrained culture of ‘right first time’ and ability to motivate juniors to achieve this. Proven ability in the leadership and motivation of individuals and teams
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, ideally with experience in business development, project management and client management
  • Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations
  • Flexibility, including the ability to travel throughout the UK and internationally
