Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Product Compliance and Sustainability Lead to oversee regulatory product compliance while shaping our sustainability direction. You’ll ensure our products meet current and upcoming standards (including REACH and the new General Product Safety Regulation (GSPR)), handle customer compliance queries, and lead the development of our Sustainability Roadmap. This is a strategic and hands-on role with opportunities to influence our internal operations and external reputation.

Key Responsibilities
Product Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable UK and EU product legislation including REACH, RoHS, WEEE, and GSPR.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturers to collect accurate documentation and data on product composition and conformity.
  • Maintain and update technical files, including safety data, declarations, and certification records.
  • Respond to customer queries related to compliance documentation, safety, or regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed on legislative changes, interpret their impact, and guide internal teams accordingly.
Sustainability Strategy & Implementation
  • Lead the development of the Sustainability Roadmap, setting clear targets and reporting mechanisms.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for more sustainable materials, packaging, and production methods.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure environmental considerations are integrated across product design and supply processes.
  • Support communication of our sustainability efforts through accurate environmental claims and verified data.
Team Communication & Reporting
  • Serve as the key point of contact for customer-facing compliance and sustainability enquiries. Provide internal training and guidance to ensure teams across departments are informed and aligned.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools for sustainability progress and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all compliance data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with audit or customer requirements.
Product Development & Compliance Coordination
  • Work closely with internal colleagues and external suppliers during new product introductions, identifying potential compliance risks and sustainability considerations early in the process.
  • Conduct initial risk assessments on new product styles, including evaluating production feasibility, supplier capabilities, potential testing needs, and associated costs.
  • Assess the suitability of manufacturing partners for specific product types, based on competency and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and submit full product documentation for review at each development milestone, including final compliance sign-off prior to production.

Desirable Experience & Skills
  • Strong understanding of REACH and new GSPR requirements (or related product safety legislation).
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 or similar environmental management systems.
  • Experience in compliance related to food contact products, electronics, or consumer goods is a plus. Comfortable interpreting regulations and technical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—especially when explaining compliance topics to customers or internal colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and analysis skills.
  • Competent in Excel and able to manage databases, trackers, or product
