£30,000-£40,000 per annum (DOE)

Are you a creative and technically skilled product designer with a passion for innovation and sustainability? We’re recruiting on behalf of a pioneering acoustic solutions company looking for a Product Design & Development Engineer to join their collaborative team in Watford.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a forward-thinking business that partners with architects and designers to create cutting-edge acoustic products for commercial interiors. You’ll play a key role in designing products that are not only high-performing but also visually striking and environmentally conscious.

Product Design & Innovation

• Design modern acoustic products for offices and commercial spaces.
• Produce detailed technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
• Collaborate with clients and designers to bring creative ideas to life.

Material Selection & Testing

• Research sustainable, cost-effective materials with strong acoustic performance.
• Test and validate materials to meet industry and environmental standards.

Prototyping & Validation

• Create prototypes using tools like 3D printing and CNC cutting.
• Conduct acoustic performance testing and refine designs based on results.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with manufacturing, sales, and marketing to ensure design feasibility and market fit.
• Liaise with suppliers to source innovative materials and components.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and product specifications.
• Ensure products meet safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Project Management & Process Improvement

• Manage multiple projects from concept to completion.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Acoustics, or related field

• Experience in product design and development (acoustic, furniture, or interiors preferred)
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino, etc.)
• Understanding of acoustic performance principles and production processes
• Hands-on prototyping and testing experience
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong design aesthetic
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
