Job Description - Production Machine Operator

Job Opportunity: Production Machine Operator
Location: Doncaster
Hourly Rate: £12.50 - £15.50 (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week (rotating shift pattern)
Shift Pattern:

  • Week 1: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 2:30pm & Friday, 6:00am – 12:00pm
  • Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm – 12:00am

Elevation Recruitment Group are proud to be working in partnership with a leading manufacturer in the kitchen furniture industry, to recruit an experienced and versatile CNC Wood Machinist to join their high-performing production team.

About the Role

As a CNC Wood Machinist, you will set and operate a minimum of 8 types of wood machining equipment, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and productivity across the board. This is a hands-on role requiring technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.

You’ll work collaboratively across departments and play an essential part in maintaining high manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate wood machining and CNC equipment
  • Produce components within specification and quality standards
  • Read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
  • Record production data manually and via SAP
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe work environment
  • Identify faults and escalate non-conformities
  • Support team members and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Undertake additional tasks including packing, assembly, and light maintenance

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience with wood machining and CNC operation
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety within a production setting
  • Physically fit for manual handling and long periods of standing
  • Basic computer literacy and good communication skills
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and team-oriented

Desirable:

  • NVQ / City & Guilds qualification in Wood Machining
  • Formal apprenticeship or trade certification
  • Experience using SAP or similar systems
