Production Manager

Our client, based in Reading are seeking a hands-on and experienced Production / Factory Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its workshop.

Specialising in precision sheet metal work, they support a wide range of sectors including electronics, industrial manufacturing, and bespoke engineering projects.

Production Manager Job Overview

• Manage day-to-day factory operations, team of up to 10 staff
• Prepare quotations, order materials, and ensure jobs stay on budget
• Schedule work, produce parts drawings and cutting lists using CAD
• Maintain quality and health & safety standards across all activity
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and senior management
• Drive improvements in efficiency, output, and long-term growth

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing a factory or workshop in a similar environment
• Strong background in sheet metal fabrication
• Experience in CAD - comfortable producing parts drawings and technical documentation
• Demonstrated ability to work to and maintain quality standards and H&S compliance
• Commercially aware, with a focus on profitability and cost control
• Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
• A proactive mindset, with a willingness to help grow the business

• Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
• Hours: Core factory hours are Monday to Friday 07:30-16:00; manager expected to work flexibly as needed, with a base of 7.5 hours/day
