Production Manager – Engineering & Manufacturing
Tandem Personnel are recruiting on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business for an experienced Production Manager in Ipswich. This is an important role within the business, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of production, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will lead and develop the production team, manage production planning and scheduling, monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the day-to-day running of the production operation.
* Oversee production planning and scheduling.
* Ensure production targets and customer requirements are met.
* Ensure effective use of manpower, machinery and materials.
* Monitor production KPIs and identify areas for improvement.
* Lead, motivate and develop the production team.
* Drive continuous improvement and look for ways to reduce costs and waste.
* Work closely with Quality to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.
* Take responsibility for Health & Safety across the business.
* Complete risk assessments and ensure appropriate RAMS are in place.
* Manage relationships with subcontractors and work closely with Purchasing.
* Contribute to operational planning and business improvement.
* Monitor operational costs and support budget management.
* Provide regular updates to senior management on production performance and any challenges.
* Represent Operations at management meetings.
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager with:
* 5–7+ years' experience in a similar Production or Manufacturing Management role.
* A strong engineering or manufacturing background.
* Experience managing and developing production teams.
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
* A genuine continuous improvement mindset.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and people-management skills.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
* A proactive approach and the confidence to challenge existing processes and suggest improvements.
* Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment is essential.
