Job title: Production operative - Machining Job Type: Contract IR35 Status: Inside Start date: Subject to clearance/onboarding Duration: 12 months Pay rate: £16.59 per hour plus hourly shift rate £1.98 Total £18.57 per hour Location: Castle Donington Hybrid/Remote Working: ONSITE Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 0600hrs - 1400hrs Friday 0600hrs - 1300hrs Monday to Thursday 1400hrs - 2200hrs Friday 1300hrs - 2000hrs
Shifts alternate weekly.
Role information:
Working within a Nuclear fuels manufacturing site, the core responsibilities are to set up and operate CNC machines. Assist in training operators as and when required. Understand original programmes. Meet the Departments Production Output to the MRP Schedules. Work to instruction given by Line Managers, Production Coordinator and Management
Responsibilities:
Ensure productivity is maintained to the required standard Ensure and Maintain discipline within your area Control your Time Management to ensure delivery of the products are met Promote good team morale in your area "Implementation of policies, procedures and working documents as required" Assist in training of employees as required Support the Management Team Update daily tick lists and charts within the required time limit Assist other employees with quality situations as and when necessary Highlight Quality problems to the Line manager Able to carry out production work with reference to the Skill Matrix Continuous improvements relating to this position and assisting the business to identify opportunities for improvement Maintain and create machine programmes when required Assist the business to identify and create drawings Be able to perform any general duties or tasks required by management Ensure a safe working environment is maintained (H&S) Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required Liaise with engineers, production, operators to resolve machining problems
Daily Requirements:
Able to use all types of production fixtures to manufacture products Confident to use inspection fixtures and gauges to meet product quality standards Confident to use all Data Cards and SOP's within the Working Area Demonstrate competency in the visual inspection methods Demonstrate competency to refer to Quality Procedures Able to read and understand drawings and SOP's to enable manufacture Check and create SOP's, able to advise on improvements Attend meetings to discuss quality problems with all concerned Report to the Line Manager or Production Coordinator problems which effect production Maintain visible plans on notice boards When all work is completed report this situation to Line Manager or Production Coordinator in order to allocate the next work required If no work is available report this situation to the Line Manager or Production Coordinator Maintain good housekeeping practices Understand and manage the paperwork system to demonstrate full traceability of the batch card discipline Able to fully record all mandatory and process paperwork/data base systems with reference to the operation being performed by yourself Understand the record and test piece storage requirements of the controlling specifications/procedures Correctly record working hours, absence and leave on the ESS system Maintain batch card discipline and the recording of information, including on the SAP system. Maintain data and clock on and off the computer system Ensure the MRP plan is worked to as required to meet the schedule dates
Qualifications/Experience Required
Competent in the visual inspection methods Able to refer to Quality Procedures Experience of machining and Fabrication and/or metal parts manufacture Able to read drawings and refer to work instruction Familiar with NCR processes Understand MRP requirements Confident to use Micrometres, Verniers and digital equipment Competent in using equipment in relation to your working area Experience with Matsuura, Doosan and Haas machines Familiar with or willing to learn, operating laser cutting machines
This position will be based at Castle Donington however you may be required to travel or work at other locations with reasonable notice.
