Production Shift Manager

Location: Coventry
Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 (depending on shift pattern) + bonus

Summary:
Are you a confident leader with a background in overseeing fast-paced production environments? We're looking for a Production Shift Manager to take ownership of shift performance and lead a growing team within a specialist FMCG production facility.

In this key leadership role, you'll be responsible for managing people, processes, and performance across your shift - ensuring safety, quality, and targets are consistently met. You'll be at the front line of the operations, driving continuous improvement and inspiring your team to achieve excellence every day.

This role is working on a 3-on-3-off shift pattern, with option for the day shift (6am - 6pm) or the night shift (6pm - 6am).

Key Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the whole production operation and being accountable for all activities on shift.
• Leading, coaching, and motivating a team of Production Operatives and Team Leaders to meet production KPIs.
• Working cross-functionally with maintenance, quality, and planning teams to resolve issues quickly.
• Ensuring compliance with all health & safety and hygiene regulations, conducting audits and daily checks.
• Carrying out HR-related tasks such as staff reviews, return to work procedures and investigations.
• Organising labour schedules, booking additional agency staff when required to meet production needs.
• Driving lean principles and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Reporting on shift performance and contributing to operational planning.

Experience:

• Proven experience in a shift management or supervisory role within a FMCG or high-speed manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience within a semi or fully automated operation is desirable.

• Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.

• Working knowledge of production KPIs, lean tools, and health & safety regulations.

• Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-focused mindset.
• High attention to detail and able to create reports and analyse findings.
