The client
Our client is a leading UK food manufacturing organisation, who supply to major UK retailers. Still family owned, they have a rich history having operated for over 60 years. With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities including in Yorkshire, they are looking to expand their operations in the near future as well.
The role
They are looking for a proactive Production Supervisor to drive productivity and efficiency on the production lines. To assist the Production Manager and cover in their absence.
Key day to day responsibilities:
* Plan and organise line labour to maximise production output, efficiency and on-time order completion.
* Ensure full compliance with Hygiene, Health & Safety, GMP and quality procedures at all times.
* Maintain a clean, tidy Packing area and linked areas using a “clean as you go” approach.
* Meet, monitor and continuously improve production KPIs; drive efficiencies across lines and the department.
* Minimise waste and resource usage while maintaining output to customer specifications.
* Accurately record production data: downtime, batch counters, changeovers, label checks and metal detector logs.
* Carry out hourly metal detector checks and checkweigher verifications at start/end of each run.
* Report quality and equipment issues promptly to the Production Manager, Technical and Engineering teams.
* Lead, motivate and develop the team; ensure adequate training, address gaps and take corrective action on performance.
* Communicate company information clearly, monitor processes continuously and contribute ideas for improvement.
Person Specification:
* Previous experience as Team Leader / Supervisor within a Manufacturing / Packaging environment
* Basic Food Hygiene Qualification / HACCP training (Desirable)
* Experience of Continuous Improvement methods through people (Desirable)
* Previous experience in FMCG manufacturing
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Good basic IT & Numerical skills
* Ability to meet deadlines in pressurised environment
* Problem solving
* Team player
* Be flexible in approach to working hours to meet business demands
