Production Systems Planner - Day Shift

Monday - Friday: 8am - 4pm

£27,500 – £32,500 per annum

People Solutions are looking for a Production Systems Planner for our client who runs a well-established engineering business in Birmingham.

Day-to-Day Duties:

• Convert customer orders into weekly and monthly machining, assembly, and subcontract targets
• Analyse capacity and constraints to support decisions on new business and capital investments
• Lead the transition from Excel to a dedicated MRP system
• Apply automation and AI tools to streamline planning and reduce manual input
• Model and communicate the impact of potential supply or machine downtime
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and implementing smarter planning systems

Essential Skills:

• Experience in a manufacturing planning or scheduling environment
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on clarity and collaboration
• Structured, logical, and proactive approach to work
• High standards and strong ownership of responsibilities

Desirable Skills:

• Experience contributing to MRP system upgrades or implementations
• Interest or experience in applying AI or automation in planning processes
• Ability to analyse and present capacity data for strategic decision-making

Training:

• Full support during transition to a new MRP system
• Opportunities to apply and develop skills in automation and continuous improvement initiatives
• Exposure to ISO9001, ISO14001, and IATF16949 frameworks
