Title: Professional Hardware Engineer - Safety (Self-Employed Contractor)

Area: E/E Hardware Integration - Safety (Steering Wheel, Airbag, Restraint Systems)

Location: Leamington Spa, UK

Please note this opportunity is for a self-employed contractor and will not be considered on an employed basis.

EDAG Engineering UK is a small but growing collaborative team who are currently focusing on some key UK Customers whilst at the same time having access to large multidisciplinary teams globally. Within the group, we are over 9000 employees located across the world whose core business is to provide engineering solutions to major automotive companies and their suppliers.

We are looking for a Professional Hardware Engineer – Safety (Self-Employed Contractor) to join the team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to our continuing expansion.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participation in weekly EE integration meetings 
  • Creation and maintenance of the steering wheel heating specification 
  • Coordination of functional concept and test definitions with the supplier 
  • Revision of the HOD specification and alignment with the supplier 
  • Update of the overall steering wheel specification 
  • Clarification of the interface to the SCM, including adaptation of pinning and revision of EID sheets 
  • Planning of test setups and vehicles 
  • Synchronization of timelines with partners 
  • Definition of the EE test scope (pending receipt of standards by supplier) 
  • FMEA support 
  • Support in designing the illumination control system 
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable field 
  • Experience in vehicle integration of safety-relevant EE components 
  • Knowledge in specification development, FMEA, and test planning 
  • Experience in working with suppliers and OEMs 
  • Structured working style, strong communication skills, and a team player mentality
