The Role

The Programme Delivery Lead is responsible for the successful planning, coordination and delivery of a long-term strategic customer programme, ensuring contractual commitments are met safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Acting as the primary point of contact for the customer, the Programme Delivery Lead will build and maintain strong working relationships while coordinating cross-functional teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver an evolving programme of work. The role requires the ability to manage competing priorities, respond effectively to changing customer requirements and make informed decisions in a dynamic environment where information may be incomplete.

This role will provide leadership across programme planning, procurement, cost control, quality, documentation and risk management, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the programme delivers value for both the customer and the business throughout the contract lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Programme Leadership

Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of a long-term customer programme.

Develop and maintain programme plans that adapt to changing priorities and customer requirements.

Coordinate multiple workstreams to ensure successful delivery of contractual commitments.

Identify programme risks and implement mitigation plans.

Ensure programme milestones, deliverables and KPIs are achieved.

Customer Relationship Management

Act as the primary interface between the business and the customer.

Develop strong, collaborative relationships built on trust and professionalism.

Manage customer expectations and respond effectively to changing requirements.

Lead customer meetings, progress reviews and programme updates.

Resolve issues proactively while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.

Commercial & Cost Management

Monitor programme budgets and expenditure.

Support financial forecasting and reporting.

Drive cost control initiatives while maintaining quality and delivery performance.

Ensure commercial decisions align with contractual obligations.

Identify opportunities for efficiencies and continuous improvement.

Procurement & Supply Chain

Coordinate procurement activities to support programme delivery.

Work closely with suppliers to ensure material availability.

Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules and quality.

Manage supply risks and implement contingency plans where required.

Quality & Documentation

Ensure programme documentation is maintained accurately and in accordance with customer and company requirements.

Drive high standards of document control and configuration management.

Support internal and external audits where required.

Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout programme delivery.

Planning & Coordination

Develop realistic delivery schedules and resource plans.

Coordinate activities across engineering, operations, procurement and commercial functions.

Monitor progress and adjust plans as programme requirements evolve.

Report programme performance to senior management.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve programme delivery processes.

Promote best practice in planning, communication and stakeholder management.

Support the development of programme management capability across the business.

Requirements

Essential

* Proven experience leading complex programmes or major customer contracts.

* Strong commercial awareness with experience of budget and cost control.

* Experience managing customer relationships within a demanding environment.

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

* Ability to prioritise competing demands in a rapidly changing environment.

* Experience producing and maintaining programme documentation.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Project (or equivalent planning tools).

Desirable

* Formal Project or Programme Management qualification (PRINCE2, MSP, APM, PMP or equivalent).

* Knowledge of quality management systems.

* Experience managing long-term framework or service contracts.

Renumeration

* Salary £45-£50k

* Grade C Car (£460 monthly lease or £6,600 annual cash allowance)

* BUPA

* 25 Days holiday plus 1 extra Company Day
