Finance Officer, International Development Charity, £32,000, Central London (Hybrid) A brilliant opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer to join the UK office of a highly respected international development charity. This is a fantastic role for someone with around one year of experience in charity finance, looking to build their knowledge in grant management, donor reporting, and international programme finance.
Reporting into the Programme Finance Manager, you will assist in processing a high volume of payments, managing agreements, and supporting with donor reporting. You’ll also help maintain financial records, track project expenditure, and support the finance team to ensure strong financial oversight of the charity’s international programmes.

Key responsibilities:
Assist in processing payments and maintaining supporting documentation
Support with the preparation of financial reports for institutional donors
Help monitor project spend, flag variances, and update grant trackers
Maintain internal tools to track active grants, cost recoveries and cash balances
Assist with setting up new grant codes and keeping grant records up to date
Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate bookkeeping
Help monitor and reconcile foreign currency transactions
Support with donor compliance by following checklists and maintaining audit trails
Liaise with internal teams and overseas partners to gather financial information
Assist with audit preparation and respond to finance queries as needed
About you:
At least one year’s experience in a finance role within a charity – international development experience a bonus
Decent understanding of bookkeeping and financial administration
Experience carrying out balance sheet reconciliations and supporting audits
Exposure to foreign currency accounting (desirable)
Strong Excel skills and confidence using finance systems
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
A proactive communicator who enjoys working across teams and cultures
Interested in pursuing a professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA)
