Project Accountant

Hays Senior Finance are partnering with a valued client as they embark on a new Project across Financial Systems Improvement. Our client, based in Falkirk, are recruiting for an experienced Accountant who can support with the continuous improvement and developmental support of the Oracle financial system. This is a Project support role designed to support BAU processes and improve the functionality of reporting and management information. This contract role is for a period of 6-9 months with the possibility of extension. Part of the project team, you will work with managers across support services and will build relationships across front and end user services. The successful candidate will join an experienced team with the opportunity to get involved in process improvement and bring new ideas to the table to improve end-end accounting. The Annual Salary for this position is £44,500 plus generous holiday entitlement of 35 days and a 35-hour working week.
Your new role
The Project Accountant will be part of a project team, sitting alongside change and finance with a view to improving general ledger and transactional processes. The Project Accountant will have a detailed analytical approach to payroll, journals, accruals and general ledger to understand legacy issues and improve the functionality of the system on BAU activity. You will engage stakeholders across the project from change, finance and IT across various subject areas and provide commentary and analysis on best practice. This role relies on an experienced hands-on accountant with Oracle/SQL knowledge who can provide process improvement and analysis across a highly complex environment.

You will work in a team of 20 staff across the function and will be actively involved in meetings and providing feedback on best practice. This is a varied and interactive role where a series of mini-projects will be planned and tackled across the project lifecycle.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have experience in a similar role ideally, with experience in Oracle/SQL. Experience in complex structures would be advantageous with strong communication to shape direction and input to the project. Strong AP/AR/General ledger and problem-solving skills will be essential to look at the end-end process, consolidate and simplify accounting processes and establish a way forward with process notes.
