Project Accountant/Business Partner

Our client are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Accountant to support their growing operations/finance team. Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will play a key role in monitoring project performance and ensuring that financial reporting accurately reflects activity on the ground. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong Excel skills and a keen interest in working closely with production teams to drive project profitability and cash flow visibility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop project budgets based on quotes received.
• Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports tracking project costs and progress against budget.
• Identify and investigate cost overruns and unexpected expenditures.
• Highlight work undertaken outside of original scope or quote.
• Produce accurate cost-to-complete forecasts for ongoing projects.
• Prepare and maintain project cash flows, monitoring performance against the original financial plan.
• Collaborate with production and project teams to understand real-time activity and translate it into actionable financial insights.
• Support the Management Accountant with ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.

For this role, the client is looking for the following attributes:

• Strong Excel skills are essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments.
• A proactive, hands-on attitude and the ability to work independently under the guidance of the Management Accountant.
• Good commercial awareness with a strong grasp of project environments and cost control.
• Professional accounting qualifications are not essential but may be beneficial.
