This is a permanenet role and the salary is between £30,685 and £36,100 dependent on skills and experience.
Base location is flexible – West Cumbria, Warrington, London or Harwell.
Hybrid working available with 40% of time in an NDA office.

As a Project Controls Assistant, you will provide a project controls service to the NDA’s Assurance and Performance (A&P) function. As part of the team, you will be responsible for independently and robustly managing, measuring, and reporting costs within the A&P function, demonstrating control and value for money in addition to providing general project controls support.
Accountabilities :
- Responsible for the provision of accurate forecasts for expenditure and performance.
- Organising and leading monthly Estimate at Completion reviews.
- Updating Estimate at Completion templates with actual and forecast data.
- Responsible for the preparation of accruals.
- Responsible for the raising and monitoring of Purchase Orders.
- Supporting the production and presentation of monthly reports, variance analysis and functional Dashboards.
- Providing support to the NDA internal business planning process.
- Using NDA’s tools and systems for Project Controls and Cost Management.
- Providing ad hoc input to reviews of Integrated Programme Controls policies and procedures.
- Contributing to NDA’s continuous improvement of Project Controls.
- Providing other project controls support as directed by the Head of Programme Controls.
- Managing a functional budget of up to £40m, typically working with one function (assurance and performance) across the following 5 capabilities – health, safety and wellbeing, sustainability, research and development, performance assurance, performance improvement.
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
Essential:
- Project controls or project management qualification (or part qualified) or equivalent.
- Experience within a cost engineering / project controls role.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles such as debits, credits and accruals.
- Experience of producing and presenting information to high standards.
- Able to work under pressure and adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands and meeting tight deadlines.
- Experience of working within a confidential environment.
- Strong communication and interaction skills.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and experience of using Project Controls cost, and reporting software.
Desirable:
- Experience of using Sage & Vena.
- Experience of working in the nuclear sector.
