Our partner: Our partner is an illustrated publisher known for creating visually engaging books for readers of all ages. In this role, you’d be working on an impressive portfolio of licensed brands (children’s and crossover titles), in a design team, which actively challenges conventions. With a collaborative and design -led culture, they are passionate about producing books that inspire curiosity, creativity and discovery.
Responsibilities:
- Commission and brief freelance illustrators, designers, photographers and other creative contributors across multiple projects.
- Oversee the creative development of full -colour illustrated and photographic titles from concept through to final delivery.
- Collaborate closely with editorial colleagues to develop flatplans, visual concepts and engaging storytelling approaches.
- Manage project schedules, budgets and workflows to ensure books are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Build strong working relationships with licensors, freelancers and internal teams while contributing ideas and creative direction across the wider list.
Experience and skills that will deliver success in this role: The right candidate will be a confident and collaborative publishing designer with strong creative instincts and experience managing illustrated book projects from concept to completion. You’ll be comfortable balancing creative direction with project management responsibilities and enjoy working across multiple fast -moving titles.
Essential
- Proven experience working as a book designer within publishing, across illustrated titles.
- Strong typography, layout and visual storytelling skills with advanced Adobe Creative Suite knowledge, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience commissioning and briefing freelance creatives including illustrators, photographers and designers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering high -quality work to deadlines.
- A proactive, solutions -focused approach with strong communication and relationship management skills.
Desirable
- Experience using project management tools such as Asana
- Knowledge of licensed publishing and working with external brand partners
