Metalis is recruiting an experienced and driven Project Engineer to join a growing engineering organisation. This varied and influential role combines hands-on engineering expertise with technical project leadership.
You will take ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through to manufacture, installation, commissioning and ongoing support. Acting as the technical lead, you will work closely with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead engineering projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initial enquiry and concept development through to installation, commissioning and support.
* Act as the technical lead, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
* Develop technical specifications and translate customer requirements into safe, practical and manufacturable engineering solutions.
* Produce engineering drawings, BOMs, calculations, project plans and technical documentation using SolidWorks and other engineering tools.
* Carry out design verification, including load assessments, stress analysis and structural calculations.
* Coordinate with fabrication, manufacturing, assembly and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and compliant.
* Lead customer meetings, site surveys and technical reviews, providing expert engineering support throughout the project.
* Ensure compliance with relevant British and international standards, ISO quality requirements, CDM regulations and company HSE policies.
* Support product development, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain accurate engineering records, project documentation and drawing registers.
Experience & Qualifications
* Qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
* Strong technical project leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
* Proficient in CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.
* Good understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly and production processes.
* Experience with material handling systems/ equipment
* Knowledge of LOLER, CDM Regulations and ISO quality standards.
* Familiarity with FEA tools such as ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation.
* Experience carrying out structural hand calculations.
* Knowledge of materials, tolerancing and manufacturing methods.

* Salary: £40,000
* 24 days annual leave, rising to 26 days after 2 years' service
