The Role

To support the successful delivery of strategic Energy /Utilities and major project business unit with relevant adherence to tender assumptions by producing programmes and establishing governance, monitoring project controls, managing reporting process, and ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements, the role provides assurance, consistency, visibility across multiple projects and workstreams whilst transforming and improving process and systems across the business unit whilst delivering on the anticipated sales forecasts and margins and the interactions that are required to support the business leader and the PMO team.

Responsibilities

* Lead and maintain PMO governance frameworks, standards, methodologies and controls across the Energy, Utilities and Major Projects portfolio.

* Support project and programme governance, ensuring compliance with company policies, contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

* Oversee project mobilisation processes, ensuring plans, assumptions and handover documentation are in place prior to commencement.

* Monitor project performance against agreed baselines, programmes, budgets and forecasts.

* Track and manage project milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, actions and change control activities.

* Develop and maintain project controls, dashboards, KPIs and performance reporting across the business unit.

* Produce weekly, monthly and ad hoc management reports to support decision-making by senior stakeholders.

* Identify delivery risks, commercial threats and performance issues, recommending and monitoring corrective actions.

* Support cost control, financial performance and P&L protection through effective project monitoring and reporting.

* Maintain programme risk registers and facilitate risk reviews, assurance activities and project deep-dive sessions.

* Ensure project completion, governance and handover documentation is accurate and supports full commercial recovery.

* Manage resource onboarding, utilisation and performance reporting for both direct labour and subcontractors.

* Collaborate with Project Managers, suppliers, clients and stakeholders to improve delivery performance and business processes.

* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, systems development and PMO best practice across the business unit.

Technical Skills & Experience

* Previous PMO Manager, PMO Analyst, Project Controls or similar experience within the Utilities, Energy or Infrastructure sector.

* Strong understanding of project governance, assurance, compliance and project controls.

* Experience supporting the successful delivery of complex projects and programmes.

* Strong financial awareness, including budget monitoring, forecasting and performance reporting.

* Advanced data analysis, reporting and dashboard development skills.

* Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation abilities.

* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

* Knowledge of street works, permitting and utility industry processes.

* Experience using project management and reporting tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Jira, Clarity or Planview.

* Self-motivated, analytical and able to drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Training

* Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience.

* PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP Practitioner or equivalent Project/Programme Management qualification.

* Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Project, PowerPoint and reporting tools.
