Project Manager

PLACE OF WORK: Harrogate Community House, 46-50 East Parade, Harrogate, HG1 5LT (Hybrid working)

GRADE: £37,280 - £39,152 (SCP 26 – 28) dependent on experience

HOURS OF WORK:37 hours per week across Monday to Friday. Evening work will be required to attend council meetings (currently these take place on Wednesdays)

CONTRACT: 18 month Fixed Term Contract with possibility of going permanent

Harrogate is a town with a distinctive identity - shaped by its heritage, its green spaces and the people who give the place its character. Over the past year, the Town Council has strengthened that identity by establishing a clearer civic presence and putting in place the systems, partnerships and practical delivery that turn local priorities into visible improvements.

We’re growing our team and are looking for a Projects Manager who can bring shape, clarity and steady coordination to this work. Someone who can take an agreed idea, help define its scope, organise the moving parts and keep partners aligned so progress is clear and well‑managed. The programme is varied and hands‑on: one day you might be progressing town centre signage within Harrogate’s brand guidelines; the next, overseeing a demographics data project that will strengthen community‑focused decision‑making; or shaping early scoping work to repair and renovate the Stray Changing Rooms, working closely with North Yorkshire Council.

You’ll produce structured reports that explain progress, surface issues early and offer practical recommendations so councillors can make confident, well‑informed decisions. You’ll work constructively with a diverse range of stakeholders, helping align activity and maintain clarity so momentum is supported where progress depends on external partners and principal authorities. Above all, you’ll help ensure delivery feels organised, transparent and rooted in Harrogate’s identity.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with a recognised project management qualification, strong organisational skills and solid experience delivering projects in public‑facing, voluntary, community or partnership‑based settings. You’ll bring structure, drive and a practical mindset; able to shape delivery, solve problems and work confidently with councillors, contractors and community partners.

You’ll be comfortable navigating work where decisions and pace sit with others, and you’ll bring good judgement, integrity and a positive, forward‑looking approach to support our ambitions.

If you want to contribute to a town that values its heritage, invests in its community and is ambitious for its future, we’d be pleased to hear from you.
